Here is an opportunity to see ` the real Vietnam`. The water coconut palm canals are a unique eco-system located on the Hoi An river. This region suffered from bombing during the war and many people were killed as they sheltered in their boats amongst the water coconut palms. But since that time, the local villagers have returned to their traditional lifestyle and rebuilt homes in the traditional bamboo style.
We will take you to by bamboo basket boat through the narrow winding canals of this unique eco- system. We visit the villagers and you see at first hand the traditional craft of building the bamboo homes. You will see every stage of the process from the cutting and gathering of the bamboo through the natural drying process; construction of the wall partitions and weaving of the palm thatching. Many of the local villagers continue to live in these traditional bamboo homes and are continually re-building.
